Haunted House 2010!

All over ET we have wonderful contests for the Halloween (Samhain) spirit! There are costume making, poems, stories, drawings and so on...but I don't see any haunted house wikis...

So here we are! This contest is open to all, just follow the rules and we will vote via poll.

I want to have haunted house photos! No manipulations, drawings or paintings please. I want to see what you've done to your house for the holiday!

Rules:

I shouldn't have to say not to steal houses. But just to be sure, take at least one picture of your house as is and one with a blanket in it. You can enter a picture of your house (or a collage) as a whole, one room or however you wish.

I'll divvy the polls into the categories of:

*most creative
*best creepy
*best gore
*the cutest
*trick-or-treat friendliest

So no need to go spend thousands of dollars on your house's decor ~ or to kill somebody so you have real props. Remember that some trick-or-treaters are experiencing Halloween for the first time, so don't scare them to the point that they become agoraphobic (somebody who lives near me made two little girls cry until they wetted themselves despite everybody telling him to stop and we all wanted to kill him. The girls were no older than 5 or 6...)!

But, a little gore, a few skeletons, a motion sensor prop, a fog machine, you in costume and a creepy sounds CD would do nicely.

No soliciting votes. That's just sad.

Folow the theme or be removed and disqualified.

You can take multiple pictures of your house/apartment/shack/cardboard box etc and enter them under the same entry or you can opt to link a wiki page with the pictures on them. You can be in the picture(s) but it is not required (but I think it's more fun to dress up when you pass out candy), you don't have to be the photographer (ie your husband/daughter/neighbor/lawyer/real estate agent/dog can take the pictures since you can't really prove photographer anyhow).

Deadline is November 2nd!

The photos should be uploaded to ET so we don't get any broken links.

I see no problem with collaborations.

2010-09-24 [~Crimson Angel~]: I used to go trick-or-treating when I was a kid, and in my teen years I've only been to one party where my aunt was an idiot and almost got herself run over, now I dress up and watch scary movies, or run around the house in my black cap. :D

But a few people do hand out the extras to us veteran trick-or-treaters

STUFFED PUMPKIN

ahhhhhh I dont use recipes...
I just go with an inspiration...
I might make the same dish a thousand time somewhat different each time...

BUT basically...

1 PIE pumpkin (not the huge things you make jackaletterns out of)

1 cup milk
1 cup water
1 cup rice
sortta half cook it
(sometimes it doesnt fully cook in pumpkin and you get semi crunchy rice)

cut the top off your pumpkin
clean out goop and seeds.. keep seeds to roast later

in pumpkin...
and here is the inspired part... b/c it depends on how big your pumpkin is add:
equal amount of rice and bread... cut into cubes
add any leftover ground beef/pork/lamb or other cooked meats.. cut up in cubes
chop celery (2 or 3 sticks)
add raisins or cranberrys or apples or whatever
a cup or so of brown sugar or half and honey or maple surup
spice to taste... I like curry ginger cumin cinnamon alspice nutmeg
mix it really well
even dump into another bowl once you know how much will fit in your pumpkin
add mix to get it soggen! pack in really well
add milk and press... pack it in!

put lid back on
I like putting this pumpkin in an oven dish with a little water.. keep bottom from burning...
you can cover the top with tin foil to keep it from burning aswell

roast at 400... for a long time... your whole house is going to be smelling great long before it is ready
and your family is gonna be chanting... 'is it done yet?'s
